Blackboard Learn is a product that allows learners and instructors to access online educational experiences wherever and whenever they want through web and mobile devices. Blackboard Learn technology helps instructors breathe life into educational content, brings efficiency to day-to-day tasks, and empowers instructors with tools to engage and assess every learner. As Ultra Adoption Program Director, you will be responsible for the design, refinement, and coordinated execution of an adoption program built to accelerate the transition of our clients to our newest experience of Learn, called Ultra. You will indirectly manage a cross-functional team with talent from Global Client Experience and Education Services.  You will work across teams (including Product Management, Product Support, Professional Services, Marketing, Sales, and Operations) to ensure a well-orchestrated program that reaches thousands of clients around the world to drive their successful adoption of Ultra.



On a periodic basis, the Ultra Adoption Program Director will report out progress to executive leadership and the Anthology board.  The successful candidate must be comfortable with situational communication with a wide array of personae, including client instructional, support, and leadership/executive roles to Anthology staff and their leaders to company executives and beyond.




The successful candidate must possess the skills needed to develop, communicate, and support the program that will make clients successful on their journey to Ultra. A successful candidate will be familiar with institutional change management, and have an ability to define and articulate new service and product requirements based on market intelligence and research, client and internal feedback, and one’s own understanding of the space.



Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Researching and understanding the problems of key personas, being able to accurately and thoroughly articulate service and product requirements which strive to solve the problems identified
  • Prioritizing requirements based on quantitative & qualitative evidence in a manner that best supports Anthology’s business goals and provide Ultra Adoption-driven advocacy on product matters (features, workflows, issues)
  • Documenting the Ultra Adoption customer journey and frequently revisiting it to look for opportunities to deliver more value, sooner, and with higher satisfaction
  • Indirectly managing a cross-functional team and effectively communicating, motivating and providing feedback to peer managers and team members
  • Communicating to customers and internal stakeholders about the Ultra Adoption program
  • Coordinating closely with other divisions of Anthology to ensure the Ultra Adoption program provides cohesive services and capabilities and ensure continuing alignment of vision
  • Understanding key blockers on the Ultra Adoption journey and working closely with senior product leadership team to inform the strategic direction and the Learn product roadmap
  • Obtaining feedback from users, customers, sales, engineering, and other constituencies about the Ultra Adoption program
  • Developing approaches for the collecting and analyzing data to improve processes, delight the client, and maximize efficiency
  • Maintaining awareness of trends in education and technology, as well as competitive positioning
  • This role requires approximately 25% travel



The Candidate:

Required skills/qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • 8+ years of experience with a Client Programs, Client Experience, Services Delivery Management or Program Management background
  • Experience managing a large-scale technology transition either at an educational institution or a company, from which applicable skills in project planning, stakeholder alignment, multi-team coordination, and executive progress communications were demonstrated
  • 4+ years of experience developing courses in Blackboard Learn as an admin or faculty member
  • 1+ years of experience developing Ultra courses in Blackboard Learn or equivalent experience moving from one user experience to another with any software solution
  • Intrinsically motivated, with an internal locus of control
  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams, including building collaboration and consensus among diverse teams of peers, experts, and senior management
  • Ability to work in an ever-changing, fast paced, demanding environment
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work through conflict to meet objectives and maintain strong relationships across teams with different work styles and personalities
  • Ability to effectively deal with a certain degree of ambiguity/autonomy and capable of making sound business decisions
  • Excellent written, communication, and presentation skills
