Senior Software Engineer – Security Application Architecture

This position guides the architectural direction of our products; is involved in identifying and tracking current risks and future trends; gets hands-on with solution design, vetting 3rd parties, and complex coding and triaging; and is a self-driven technology leader capable of collaboration and clear communication.

 

 

The successful candidate will interface closely with the Chief Architect, Application and Enterprise Architects, as well as with product development, SRE, and security teams, and coordinate security and privacy standards across a broad set of products and services. They will partner with the various stakeholders to advise on the best strategy for security and privacy architecture, aid in the research of new technologies, and provide crucial input into the design of technology for new service development.

 

 

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Informing Product team of architectural and technical debt risks and opportunities enabling informed decisions
  • Guiding teams on best practices related to authentication, authorization, best security vulnerabilities
  • Creating and/or maintaining architecture documentation directly or via delegation in various forms for purposes including:
    • Onboarding new hires 
    • Illustrating future changes and reviewing the impact to the system
    • Request for Proposals (RFPs) 
    • Input for Marketing material
  • Mentoring developers through training, code reviews and other forums to continuously improve the team’s skills and mindset 
  • Contributing to resolving difficult areas or extreme challenges to illustrate what concepts are possible and those that might be too far out of reach

 

 

The Candidate:

Required skills/qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field 
  • Lead-level software engineer experience 
  • At least 5 years with JavaScript 
  • At least 2 years with TypeScript 
  • At least 3 years with one or more JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, vuejs) 
  • At least 4 years with C#
  • At least 6 years with object-oriented language such as C# and/or Java 
  • At least 2 years Azure Cloud
  • Strong experience with Azure AD, AWS Incognito, Okta or other Identity and Access Management tools
  • Experience working in a geographically distributed SCRUM development environment
  • Experience with REST API design
  • Experience with .NET Framework, .NET Core
  • Knowledge of microservices
  • Knowledge of relational and non-relational database patterns and concepts
  • Clear and open communication skills
  • High expectations metered with pragmatism
  • Ability to see the “big picture”
  • Attention to detail, troubleshooting, and analysis skills

 

 

Preferred skills/qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science
  • 2 or more years as Software/Application Architect (or performing similar responsibilities)
  • Demonstrated experience leading organizations through technology change and adoption of significant new infrastructure technologies
  • Working in a Software as a Service model (SaaS)
  • Java and C# experience
  • React experience
  • Observability, monitoring
  • Experience with multi-tenant solutions
  • 10 or more years in the software development industry
