The Director of Cloud Financial Operations (FinOps) is a member and leader of the Cloud FinOps team within the Cloud Operations organization at Anthology. This role has responsibilities across multiple Anthology areas related to cloud financial operations across all clouds supported at Anthology. It will work with sales, Product Management, Account Management, Operations Management, Executive team, Cloud Architecture, and Finance. The position will be responsible for the global strategy and maturity of our Cloud Financial Operations by driving new initiatives across the respective cloud platforms and our portfolio of SaaS products.

 

 

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Leading Cloud Cost Strategy
  • Building out and enhancing cost reporting for various stakeholders using data warehousing and Power BI
  • Driving contract negotiations with Anthology’s vendors
  • Providing FinOps optimization subject matter expertise to development teams
  • Driving cost optimizations within the Anthology teams
  • Leading efforts to automate FinOps best practices
  • Partnering with other Finance (Accounting, A/P, Procurement, Legal, and Tax) and legal teams to support month-end close, flux review processes, budgeting, and financial reporting

 

 

The Candidate:

Required skills/qualifications:

  • Deep expertise in managing spending on at least one (ideally multiple) of the major Public Cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • At least 3 years of experience in cloud infrastructure management
  • At least 5 years in people management and developing strong, motivated teams
  • Deep understanding of reserved instances and spot instances and various financial treatments
  • Vendor and partner management focus, conducting QBR and ensuring all partners are meeting or exceeding expectations on service delivery excellence

 

 

Preferred skills/qualifications:

  • Using native tools in the respective cost cloud platform to understand cost and usage over time, like AWS Cost Explorer or Azure Cost Management
  • Ability to present highly technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrate ownership of training, education, and awareness of FinOps optimization best practices
  • Experience in ensuring organizational adherence to cost and infrastructure optimization activities
  • Experience in building IT budgets
  • Experience building Power BI reports or self-service capabilities to show back cloud spending
  • Experience with Microsoft agreements and licensing
  • Familiarity with Dynamics 365 products
  • Establish KPIs to track the progress and success of transformation and optimization opportunities
