This role focuses on our SafeAssign product, Anthology’s cloud-based solution for plagiarism checking. As Associate Test Automation Engineer, your focus will be on maintaining, improving and extending the test automation suites written in TypeScript/Java. You will help developers verify code changes and bug fixes and help investigate the root cause of issues found by clients. You will cooperate very closely with software and site reliability engineers and help build, maintain, and monitor test environments, as well as get in touch with modern cloud-based technologies and tools to help the team raise the bar.

 

 

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Building, maintaining, and extending test suite written in TypeScript (Java)
  • Helping developers verify code changes and bug fixes and helping investigate the root cause of issues found by clients
  • Being part of the development teams to understand the business requirements and preparing automated tests
  • Cooperating very closely with the team and helping build, maintain, and monitor test environments
  • Working in a scrum team responsible for developing and testing features and fixes for SafeAssign
  • Maintaining and improving the existing test suites for backend and front end automation testing
  • Collaborating with teammates and others to design solutions to complex problems
  • Contributing to the ongoing support and improvement of SafeAssign
  • Working with a variety of software development technologies, tools, and techniques (e.g. Java, TypeScript, Linux, AWS, Agile, etc.)
  • Developing a deep expertise in certain areas of the product to serve as the primary point of contact for support and consultation

 

 

The Candidate:

Required skills/qualifications:

  • An interest in quality assurance and test automation
  • Good abstract and critical thinking skills
  • Basic knowledge of programming (JavaScript/TypeScript or Java experience preferred)
  • Basic understanding of RESTful Service principles
  • Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS

 

 

Preferred skills/qualifications:

  • Experience executing manual tests
  • Familiarity with test automation
  • Command line scripting knowledge in Linux-like environment
  • Experience with a version control system (Git, Perforce, etc.)
  • Experience with IntelliJ IDEA (or other IDE like Eclipse)
  • Experience with a bug tracking system (JIRA, etc.)
  • Experience with a continuous integration system and continuous delivery practices
