Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing day-to-day management of the Blackboard Learn and Collaborate GUI, which could include tasks such as:
    • Consulting and management of the configuration of standard building blocks
    • Administration and management of the integration process such as:
      • Creating and managing users, roles, and privileges
      • Creating and managing courses, catalogs, and academic periods
      • Creating and managing enrollments
    • Managing system tools and utilities in the admin panel, such as:
      • Tool configurations
      • Configuration of "My Blackboard" or institutional page
      • Business surveys
      • Managing notifications
      • Salas de collaborate
      • Mobile app
      • SAML, LDAP configurations (if applicable)
      • Objective management and reporting
      • Goal module settings (Goals)
      • Institutional Hierarchy Configurations according to the objective of proposed reports
      • Running system, course, and student activity reports
    • Managing community settings, users, and branding (if applicable)
    • Managing Blackboard Content System (if applicable)
  • Providing technical/functional support in:
    • The installation of platform configurations aligned to business processes
    • Execution of platform maintenance routines
    • Investigation of platform failures or unexpected behaviors and intermediation of open support cases with official Blackboard Learn support
    • Installation and configuration of plug-ins
    • Technical support in the use of platform functionalities for the administrator to make the information available according to demand
    • Opening cases through Behind Blackboard providing as much evidence as possible to the support team
    • Validation of data in the Learn database through already created queries and adjustments or creation of simple queries and scale if necessary to Blackboard equipment
    • Support in definitions and alignments with the IT team and academic system according to the possibilities of information that is sent to Blackboard Learn, defining rules together with the technical team of the institution
  • Supporting the evaluation of good practices and technical processes that the institution leads for the use and management of the Learn platform
  • Sharing documentation relevant to the institution processes that Blackboard provides through Behind Blackboard and Release notes
  • Validating the rules of other systems used by the institution that impact on the management of the platform
  • Coordinating customization updates and integrations with the system administrator and the Blackboard customization integration and maintenance (ICM) team
  • Assisting the customer with the planning and testing of patches and updates to Blackboard Learn software and building blocks
  • Managing troubleshooting of integration exceptions and day-to-day error handling
  • Assisting the client in making strategic decisions on system changes, additional functionality, interfaces, configuration changes, etc.
  • Being a point of escalation and troubleshooting by Anthology with the customer's administrative team
  • Interfacing with Anthology consulting, product development, support teams and customer management
  • Participating in internal meetings of the institution to support decision making related to the Blackboard Learn system
  • Working as a team with our client institutions’ management team to together consolidate "Learn by doing" knowledge in a dynamic and efficient way about the management and configuration of Blackboard

 

 

The Candidate:

Required skills/qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in CIS or related field or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years’ prior relevant experience
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) in English, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in geographically distributed virtual team environment and build relationships with internal and external organizations to achieve results
  • Ability to manage expectations effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multitask in a deadline driven, high pressure environment
  • Attention to detail, excellent work ethic and drive, great interpersonal skills, team oriented, and demonstrated problem solving skills
  • LTI configuration experience
  • SAML, LDAP configuration
  • Blackboard Building Blocks or Event-Driven API experience
  • Fluency in written and spoken English at CEF B2 level or above

 

 

Preferred skills/qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of experience in a client facing consulting capacity
  • Java/Perl or Visual Basic, or C++ and XML experience
  • Experience accessing and running SQL scripts
