The Manager, Accounts Payable plays a critical role in Anthology’s Finance department by overseeing and managing the accounts payable function. This position involves supervising a team of accounts payable specialists, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, maintaining vendor relationships, and contributing to the financial health of the organization.

 

 

Primary responsibilities will include:

 

Supervision:

  • Managing and leading a team of accounts payable specialists, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure efficient and accurate processing of invoices and payments

 

 

Invoice processing:

  • Overseeing the timely and accurate processing of all incoming invoices, ensuring compliance with company policies and financial regulations

 

 

Payment processing:

  • Coordinating and scheduling payment runs, ensuring that payments are made in accordance with terms and cash flow requirements

 

 

Vendor management:

  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with vendors, resolving payment issues, negotiating favorable terms, and managing vendor inquiries

 

 

Expense reporting:

  • Reviewing and approving expense reports, ensuring adherence to company policies and accurate allocation of expenses to the appropriate accounts

 

 

Month-end close:

  • Overseeing and assisting in the month-end closing process by reconciling accounts payable ledgers, preparing accruals, and providing necessary reports and documentation to the finance team

 

 

Compliance:

  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant tax and regulatory requirements, including the accurate and timely filing of tax forms related to accounts payable

 

 

Process improvement:

  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements within the accounts payable function, streamlining workflows, and implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy

 

 

Financial reporting:

  • Overseeing and assisting in the preparation of financial reports and analysis related to accounts payable, contributing to the overall financial reporting process

 

 

Audit support:

  • Collaborating with internal and external auditors, providing documentation and support as needed during audits and financial reviews

 

 

Vendor contracts:

  • Reviewing vendor contracts and agreements to ensure accuracy and compliance with payment terms and conditions

 

 

Cross-functional collaboration:

  • Collaborating with other departments like procurement and finance to ensure seamless and efficient procurement-to-payment processes

 

 

The Candidate:

Required skills/qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Proven experience in accounts payable with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial reporting
  • )
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented and ability to work in a dynamic environment
  • Leadership skills and ability to motivate and mentor a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of best practices in accounts payable and financial management
  • Fluency in written and spoken English at CEF B2 level or above

 

 

Preferred skills/qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or relevant professional certification (CPA, CMA)
  •  Proficiency in accounting software and ERP (Microsoft D365, Fusion
