At Anthology, we are always looking for ways to innovate with accessibility. We believe that when products are designed with accessibility in mind from the start, they will benefit the most people. We are seeking an Accessibility Tester to join a group of passionate people helping advance accessibility across our growing array of educational technology products.

 

As an Accessibility Tester at Anthology, you will be responsible for testing the accessibility and usability of our products while supporting our diverse team members in gaining the awareness and skills necessary to continue to innovate with accessibility in mind. The ideal candidate will have experience with a variety of assistive technologies, accessibility testing tools and methodologies, and a strong understanding of accessibility laws and standards. They will be able to explain findings in ways that garner empathy and inspire action.

 

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Applying knowledge of disabilities to provide insights into ways to improve usability and accessibility of our products
  • Using a combination of screen readers, automated testing tools, and manual testing processes to test products for conformance with accessibility standards
  • Documenting findings for review by designers, developers, and project managers
  • Creating accessibility conformance reports (ACRs) from the Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT)
  • Explaining findings in understandable terms and collaborating to recommend solutions
  • Educating team members on accessibility and usability best practices through conversations, training, and resources

 

The Candidate:

Required skills/qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of relevant, professional experience
  • Expert or native level skills with screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver
  • Experience with assistive technology such as ZoomText, Dragon Naturally Speaking, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of accessibility standards and laws including WCAG, Section 508, and EN 301 549
  • In-depth knowledge of ARIA and HTML
  • Experience with accessibility testing tools (e.g., AXE, WAVE, ARC, etc.)
  • Understanding of different product development processes and Agile methods
  • Knowledge of inclusive design and Universal Design for Learning
  • Fluency in written and spoken English

 

Preferred skills/qualifications:

  • 3 or more years of professional experience with accessibility testing of products
  • Experience developing test plans and scoping for audits
  • Accessibility certifications (e.g., IAAP WAS)
  • Knowledge of coding languages such as React, Angular, and/or JavaScript
