In this role, you will help build a best-in-class delivery platform to power the next generation of EdTech platform fueled by data. You will join a motivated, creative, and energetic team that works in a flexible and agile fashion to deliver world-class products to the education market. By joining this team, you will become a core contributing member to Anthology's EdTech Platform initiative. This future state platform will seamlessly and uniquely deliver a revolutionized learning experience through innovation, continuous delivery, and architectural integration.



As a Staff Software Engineer, you will work in a SAFe Agile environment to deliver and build the next generation EdTech platform fueled by data. You will be developing and maintaining a global microservice-oriented platform at scale. The person in this role must be comfortable with complex software development projects and be an innovative thinker capable of communicating multi-faceted technical concepts. As a direct contributor, the candidate must have a track record of achieving goals and meeting deadlines on multi-team projects, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with evolving requirements.



In addition to developing infrastructure components, the ideal candidate can troubleshoot problems and support our production environments. Prior infrastructure experience in web service development with a service-oriented architecture in a public cloud is highly preferred.

We are looking for a candidate with strong skills on the backend, CI/
CD and infrastructure, with the desire to expand and grow their skillset. This engineer will be working in a primarily server less environment on the AWS platform and should have a strong desire to learn as technologies evolve, as well as coach and mentor more junior engineers on the team.



The Candidate:

Required skills/qualifications:

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent relevant work experience
  • 8+ years of experience and a strong background in web application development and operations, CI/CD lifecycles, and pipelines
  • Experience building, deploying, and operating large-scale cloud-based environments, in public clouds such as AWS
  • Passionate about software and ability to provide guidance on best practices, design, and architecture standards
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences in a global environment



Preferred skills/qualifications:

  • AWS Certification
  • Experience with test driven development, container-based technologies (such as ECS or KOPS), AWS server less services (such as Lambda, DynamoDB, Aurora, Event Bridge and Fargate) and infrastructure-as-code frameworks such as CDK
  • Demonstrated experience participating in transformative technology change and adoption of significant new infrastructure technologies
  • Some experience with security standards such as FedRAMP and ISO 27000, or a related security certification
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code frameworks such as AWS CDK
  • Experience in the education technology market
