We are building up a group within Anthology focused on enterprise data services. This team’s mission is to bring data together from across Anthology's extensive product lines into our cloud-based data lake. We are the analytics and data experts at Anthology. Our team enables other development teams to utilize the data lake strategically and effectively for a variety of Anthology products. We deliver products and services for analytics, data science, business intelligence, and reporting. 

 

 

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Engaging with development teams on the design, deployment, capacity needs and operations of cloud database-based solutions, and microservices, and supporting them as they transition to production
  • Monitoring the availability, performance, and health of production systems in support of meeting service level objectives
  • Using automation and tooling to continuously improve the reliability, scalability and velocity of services deployed on AWS   
  • Provide support to issues escalated from the Client Engagement Support team and interface with development teams to hand-off application issues  
  • Participating in emergency incident response on-call rosters. Practicing blameless postmortems that lead to improvements in resiliency and reductions in pager fatigue
     

 

The Candidate: 

Required skills/qualifications: 

  • Experience in the fields of Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related
  • Expertise in analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale, multi-region deployments in a public cloud (e.g. AWS) 
  • Experience with cloud deployment and management tools (e.g. Terraform, Chef) 
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g. Nagios, New Relic, PagerDuty)  
  • Experience with Database systems (e.g. MS SQL, Oracle) 
  • Ability to solve complex problems, optimize code, and automate routine tasks 

 

 

Preferred skills/qualifications: 

  • BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience 
  • Experience with Kubernetes 
  • Demonstrable scripting experience, preferably in Python 
  • Experience with network and/or application security 
  • Prior experience within the education industry and/or with e-learning technologies
